Franklin "Frank" Nebel, 84, of Marengo passed away peacefully on July 27, 2018.
He was born on January 1, 1934 in Schaumburg, IL to Raymond and Hattie (nee Botterman) Nebel. Frank was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force stationed overseas in Moracco. On April 10, 1955 he married Gail Hauenstein. They raised their family in Arlington Heights before moving to Marengo in 1999.
Frank worked as a lineman for the telephone company for 38 years. He was an avid woodworker, hand carving beautiful canes over the years. He enjoyed working around the house and garden. He was a longtime member of the telephone pioneers.
Frank will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Gail; his children, Todd (Joanne), Susan, Brian (Gracie) and Mark (Jenny); grandchildren, Alexis, Alaina, Justin, Michelle, Grace, Justin and Betse Hauser, and Ben; siblings, James (Pat), Ginger (Burl) Martin, Wesley (Jan), Russell (Cindy) and David (Judy); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his twin brother, Delano; and brother, Wayne.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
