Hans Brinnich Obituary

Hans Brinnich

Born: September 17, 1921

Died: June 20, 2016

Hans Brinnich, 94, of McHenry, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016.

He was born September 17, 1921, in Dauba, Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia. He served honorably in WWII. He married Ursula Witzenhauser on March 11, 1949, in Greding, Germany. He was a longtime resident of Crystal Lake and McHenry. He was known by many as the kind face behind the butcher shop counter at the local Jewel where he worked for nearly 40 years.

He and Ursula enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Hans and Ursula traveled often until she suffered a disabling stroke at age 63. He lovingly and faithfully cared for her in their home until her passing, the same home he gratefully lived in until his passing. He loved to recall memories of the many life adventures that spanned over nine decades. He was great man that lead a full life of struggle, survival, and then success in a new homeland. He will be remembered as a dedicated father, husband, grandfather and faithful friend.

Hans is survived by three children, Hans (Dana) Brinnich of Littleton, CO, Gerald Brinnich of Las Vegas, and Peter Brinnich of Crystal Lake; and his cherished grandchildren, Chris (Carla) Brinnich, Heidi (Shaun) Mackie of Portland, OR, and Stephen Brinnich of San Diego.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Arlene his caregiver, and Dr. Bangash and rest of the team at McHenry Dialysis.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife 62 years, Ursula Brinnich; and his sister, Traudel.

A memorial service will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Windridge Memorial Park, 7014 South Rawson Bridge Rd, Cary.

I would describe Hans Brinnich as a " man's man." Sincere, and solid as a rock. He came to this country, and made a wonderful life for his family, and himself. He was a big part of my life growing up as child. Our families spent many weekends together, either at the lake, vacations,or at each others homes. You and Tante Urshi always made me feel like I was part of your family. I know your family is proud of you. Thanks "Uncle" Hans! You will be missed...

My deepest sympathy goes out to you Pete, and to your family with the passing of Hans. Hans was a dear friend. I always felt welcome in his home. I enjoyed each and every conversation that we had. He loved to talk about times long ago when he was a young man. What an amazing life he led! I am a better man for knowing him, and will miss him always. Thank you Pete so very much for the way you unselfishly cared for him. Please know that I'm here for you, especially during this difficult time.
