Died: January 1, 2018; in Barrington, IL
Kathleen M. "Kaye" Westermann, age 75, of McHenry, formerly of Lake Forest, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at JourneyCare Hospice Care Center in Barrington.
She was born November 6, 1942 in Watertown, Wisconsin to Clarence A. and Wilhelmina (Bloedorn) Daily. Kaye had many interests throughout her lifetime, including a great love for the outdoors, camping, fishing, restoring British sport cars, writing in her journal, collecting antiques and listening to Barbara Streisand. She loved reading books and entertained everyone with a multitude of fun facts. Kaye had a great love for American history. Passionate for the way our founding fathers built our country, Kaye always had a 13 star flag hanging with a picture of Abraham Lincoln. She expressed her artistry through her minds eye creating original early American Wood primitive furniture (without a pattern), which she sold at area craft shows. The pieces she created with her children will be passed down for generations. Her life was driven by determination, and fueled by coffee.
Survivors include three children, Terri (Wade) Widner of Lake in the Hills, Colleen Wood of Indiana, and Jerry "Chip" II (Tonya) Foland of Rapid City, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Tyler and Summer Foland, Hunter and Alexander Wood; a great-grandson, Cam Gille; and her brother, John Daily of Skokie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Chester, Thomas and Michael Daily.
Arrangements were entrusted to Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, McHenry, where the cremation rite was accorded privately. Graveside inurnment will take place in the spring in LaBelle Cemetery, Oconomowac, Wisconsin where Kaye's mother, two brothers, and many family members from the Bloedorn clan were laid to rest. At that time, Kaye's final wish of the planting of an American Elm tree in her memory will also be carried out.
