SEMPER FI MARINE, NOW YOU WILL BE GUARDING THE STREETS OF HEAVEN --
MCL, Naples, FL
July 28, 2013
High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Rest in peace Col. Day. The light in this world is dimmer without you. May God bless you and your family. We hold you all in our prayers.

lest we forget

Col. Day's strength of character set the standard for American POW conduct. His leadership under the most dire circumstances teaches us that by continuing to resist we can return with honor. With his duty done, Col. Day can fly in peace for he now has God as his wingman.

What an honor it was to know you. You gave and then gave some more. No excuses. Heaven will give you more honor than any of us could.

As a former member of Seagull Flight, I knew Col. Day, and he will be missed greatly. He had a great deal of effect in getting Tricare for Life.

I never had the privilege of personally meeting Colonel Day, but as a Viet Nam veteran myself, I HIGHLY respect and honor him.
