My condolences to the Pettersen family.
Dr. Mary was such a cherished friend to our family for so many years. A special time was when she visited us in Portland, OR one time when she was there on business. Her love of learning made such an impression on so many and also her ability to want to change the world. Our sincere condolences to her family.
Thank-You Dr. Petterson for being a teacher and friend to me.I truly enjoyed going to homeroom and being your assistant 1972-1975 may you rest in peace.
God bless you, Mary. You made a difference.
My deepest sympathy to Dr. Pettersen's family. She truly had a passion for education and leadership. May the Lord grant her eternal rest and let pepetual light shine upon her.
I had Dr. Pettersen for Chemistry at MHS and was fortunate enough to be a Page for her in Indianapolis. To this day, I recall her passion for teaching and for allowing me to show an experiment 2Li(s) + 2H2O ? 2LiOH(aq) + H2(g) and the resulting exothermic reaction at Parent-Teachers Night - explosively awesome!
Dr. Pettersen was my chemistry teacher at Morton and I was also her teachers ass't. She was a fun,and wonderful person. Teaching was her passion and Morton was lucky to have her on their faculty. My sincere sympathy to Charles and her other family members.
I had the privelege of knowing Dr. Pettersen and helping her on several of her campaigns. She was a woman of great strength and was a trusted friend. She took the high road in public service and offered herself as a woman in leadership. She will be missed and I remain grateful for her presence in my life.
Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
