Dr. McNabney was by far the best teacher I ever had...that includes university teachers as well. He was a great man.

From the Hammond High Class of 1959, we send our best wishes and thanks for having Bill McNabney as a major part of our educational experience. He was a great teacher, a gifted scholar, and community historian.
We invited Bill to attend our 50th class reunion in 2009 but he politely declined due to his poor health. In visiting with him on the phone, however, he was still very encouraging and shared some of this academic adventures while on staff at HHS.
He was an outstanding Mason and cataloged much of the Masonic history and their contribution to Hammond. We will be posting a tribute to Dr. McNabney at: hhs59.com, a pictorial history HHS, and downtown Hammond.

My sincerest condolences to Rose and the McNabney family. Bill was a great neighbor and friend. With every visit, Bill always had a compelling story to tell about his youth, career, or military service. He lived a full life and touched so many others. I was glad to know him. May he rest in peace.

Our condolences to the family. Both products of Hammond High, WWII, and a good friend. Appreciate the efforts of teaching history with bicycle trips through Europe etc. In addition to academic accomplishments Bill was good working with his hands, worked in the steel mill summers and it was my privilege to together reconstruct a garage on a home that he previously built.
Sorry to have received the news of his passing after the funeral. He was a good person. Bill Freeman (Kalamazoo, MI)
