He was my elementary school orchestra conductor, then high school, and was very enthusiastic and supportive of his students. He also then became an excellent administrator at Monroe H.S. in Rochester.

I just learned of Mr. Cantor's passing. He and I always laughed at how we kept finding each other. He was my orchestra teacher at #1 school, the boys dean when I was at Monroe HS and I worked for him in the Rochester CSD. He started me on the clarinet and I have been married for almost 50 years to my clarinet music partner at Monroe! Kathy Unruh Lenahan

I did not know until just now that Mr. Cantor passed away. He and I laughed at how we kept finding each other. He was my orchestra teacher at # 1 school, then Boys dean when I was at Monroe and then I worked for him in the Rochester CSD. He taught me a love for the clarinet! Kathy Unruh Lenahan

It is with great sadness to learn belatedly of Arnold's untimely passing. He was a knowledgeable, savvy, and diligent professional who cared greatly about universities and their faculty, staff and students. I remember the creativity of his ideas and the quality of his leadership, both at the PSC and on the board of the National Center for the Study of Collective Bargaining in Higher Education.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Arnold Cantor. I worked with him for many years at the Professional Staff Congress/CUNY. He will be remembered as a founder of the PSC, a skilled negotiator, a mediator and an advocate for higher education unionism. My condolences to the Cantor family.

Please accept my sincerest condolences on Arnold's passing. I remember him as a staunch union man and advocate for the members of the PSC. I enjoyed working with him at the PSC.

Please accept my sympathies on the death of your father and grandfather. I knew Arnold Cantor in my capacity as President of the Professional Staff Congress/CUNY when he was its Executive Director. Dr. Cantor made a major contribution to academic trade unionism in the 25 years we
served together. He participated in many important events, such as the campaign to save CUNY during the fiscal crisis of the 1970s and obtaining multiple contracts for members of the instructional and professional staff. Although he has been retired for many years, there are many individuals who will remember how he helped them in their professional lives.

As Executive Director of the Professional Staff Congress/CUNY and one of its predecessor organizations for 25 years, Arnold Cantor had an enormous influence on the development of the PSC into a major academic union. He was totally involved in his work, and his commitment to the values of academic unionism marked his long and productive career. My condolences to his family.

Arnold Cantor was a pioneer in academic unionism. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Professional Staff Congess, the union that represents the faculty at CUNY. Arnold also served as the PSC's first Executive Director for more than 25 years.
