It was an honor to know Dr. Fusillo. I met her 24 years ago when my son was 4 years old and had multiple allergies. She had such a wonderful way with him and he adored her. He didn’t like going to doctors but actually looked forward to his visits with Dr. Fusillo. She later treated my older and younger daughters who also loved her. She always took the time to explain their treatment to me and also to them. This really made my children feel special.

I saw Dr. Fusillo about a year and half ago for myself. We reminisced and laughed while sharing stories about our kids. She loved telling you about her children, making the bond between doctor and patient even stronger.

A few years back while vacationing in Montauk I bumped into Dr. Fusillo and her family at John’s Drive-In. We started talking and laughing because we both were saying how our kids could not believe no matter where we went we met someone we knew. We kept talking while everyone was waiting, till we realized we better move on.

Dr. Fusillo was an expert in her field, compassionate, with a love for children and an unforgettable great smile.

My family is very saddened by her passing. We will miss her very much and feel blessed to have known her. We will always remember Dr. Fusillo fondly.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

I feel so blessed to have known Dr. Fusillo, if only for 5 years. I first met Dr. Fusillo after my then-2 year old son had a severe reaction to peanut butter. She connected with him on their first meeting - she had such an amazing way with children. Later, she would treat my younger daughter and son, who both have multiple food allergies. She never allowed me to feel overwhelmed or incapable of dealing with my children's allergies. Instead, in her matter of fact way, she explained what I needed to do, and how I would do it. Of course, she also did this with her wry sense of humor. I looked forward to our semi-annual visits, to catch up with her, learn about the newest developments in allergy treatments, and to laugh. Our family will miss her greatly & we will keep Dr. Fusillo and her family in our prayers.

Dr. Fusillo was one of those rare, truly caring doctors who took the time needed with her patients to listen, explain, and answer questions. When you were in her office, you truly felt her care and concern, and her committment to your health. I am sure she was an inspiration to all who knew her personally and profesionally, and she will be greatly missed by our family.

Our family was heartbroken to receive the news of her passing, as she touched our lives in a way that only a few ever do. Nearly two years ago our little boy spent a week in the ICU and may well have died had it not been for the expert care and selfless devotion that Dr. Fusillo provided. He will always be a living testament to her character and we are blessed to have known her.

My heart is filled with sorrow. Dr. Fusillo treated me, but more importantly, was a friend. Her manner with patients, staff and her own children was one I try to emulate--as a caring individual who took the time to listen and paid attention to every detail. Her ability to be able to effectively diagnose and treat patients while also showing a genuine interest in them personally was truly a gift. I pray that her family is comforted in knowing that they were loved by a very special person whose spirit will live on in all who knew her. May God keep her in His care.

Dr. Fusillo taught me everything I know about pediatric allergy and I referred many patients to her once I entered private practice. She was well loved and respected in the pediatric community and I send my love and support to her family.

Christine was our next door neighbor and friend. She had those special qualities of friendliness, wisdom and humor; gifted in so many ways - she listened well and cared a lot. Whether we talked about family, plants, food or books, conversing with Christine was so enjoyable and satisfying. I will miss those spontaneous, front lawn conversations and also seeing her riding the family tractor, looking more like a cowboy than a doctor. But that's how she was - a lively spirit who had the human touch. God bless and comfort you Bob, Brian, Katie, Maureen,
Mrs. Fusillo and all your family, as we remember Christine with love.

“Selfless” resonates with me today in between moments of deep sadness over the loss of Dr. Christine Fusillo. While I am filled with sadness over the loss of one of the world’s best caregivers, community leaders, and human beings, I find myself returning to memories of Dr. Fusillo’s selflessness. Dr. Fusillo made many contributions to our family through her care of my children, as a friend, and as an inspiration; Christine will always be remembered and will always be missed.

In an attempt to communicate my thoughts and feelings over Dr. Fusillo’s death, the following quote seemed appropriate:

“We are formed and molded by our thoughts. Those whose minds are shaped by selfless thoughts give joy when they speak or act. Joy follows them like a shadow that never leaves them. “ - Buddha

This quote is meaningful since I believe Christine was shaped by selfless thoughts and intentions. I personally observed and experienced the shadow of joy that she brought over many of us. My family and I benefited greatly by Christine’s selflessness and through each of our interactions with her. Christine, I hope you rest peacefully knowing that you have impacted our lives in so many positive ways and that each of our interactions with you will follow us throughout the rest of our lives. It is such a shame that others will not get to know you. We are fortunate to have known you, to be a part of your life, and to benefit from your care and selflessness. You are and will always be missed.
