My son has been a patient of Dr. Fusillo for a few years now. I am devastated to hear of her passing. She was so devoted to her patients and profession. My heart goes out to her family and staff. She will be greatly missed.

“Selfless” resonates with me today in between moments of deep sadness over the loss of Dr. Christine Fusillo. While I am filled with sadness over the loss of one of the world’s best caregivers, community leaders, and human beings, I find myself returning to memories of Dr. Fusillo’s selflessness. Dr. Fusillo made many contributions to our family through her care of my children, as a friend, and as an inspiration; Christine will always be remembered and will always be missed.

In an attempt to communicate my thoughts and feelings over Dr. Fusillo’s death, the following quote seemed appropriate:

“We are formed and molded by our thoughts. Those whose minds are shaped by selfless thoughts give joy when they speak or act. Joy follows them like a shadow that never leaves them. “ - Buddha

This quote is meaningful since I believe Christine was shaped by selfless thoughts and intentions. I personally observed and experienced the shadow of joy that she brought over many of us. My family and I benefited greatly by Christine’s selflessness and through each of our interactions with her. Christine, I hope you rest peacefully knowing that you have impacted our lives in so many positive ways and that each of our interactions with you will follow us throughout the rest of our lives. It is such a shame that others will not get to know you. We are fortunate to have known you, to be a part of your life, and to benefit from your care and selflessness. You are and will always be missed.

I am profoundly saddened to learn of Dr. Fusillo's passing. Though I was merely her patient, I feel as if I have lost a dear friend. No doubt, because she always treated me that way. Since I first became her patient, sometime back in the mid-late 90s, I've recommended her to all my family, friends, co-workers and occasionally even to complete strangers; she was that wonderful! In all those years, she always greeted me warmly, was familiar with everything we'd ever discussed, never rushed through our appointment, and sent me off with a smile and a big hug. (I will never forget how once, when her last appointment of the day on the last day of her week cancelled, we sat and chatted for more than 2-1/2 hours!!!) Dr. Fusillo was not only the MOST amazing physician ever, but also an incredible, kind, warm and remarkable human being. My sincerest condolences go out to her family, friends and staff; she will be greatly missed by all.

My Granddaughter has been a patient of Doctor Fusillo's for the past seven years. The kid is also diabetic so there have been a number of scary times. Through all of them Doctor Fusillo was there for us, taking calls in the middle of the night, adjusting medications, calling us to check on progress. There is no blood relative to whom I felt closer or more in debt . Her passing crushes my heart and I am crying as I write this. May she rest and may her family find peace.

What a wonderful and giving person Dr. Fusillo was. She will be missed dearly. Even though my children are grown now I remember how well she treated them through treatments and how she was always there for you when you needed her. She was a person that one never forgets. My prayers are with her family as they cope with their loss. God Bless

Christine and I went to high school together and were the best of friends - a claim I suspect many will make. Very sad to say given the news I received today, Chris and I had not seen one another for over 30 years. It happens like that sometimes despite all the good intentions. But I have thought of her so many times. She was so smart, so funny, so wise beyond her years and with a resolute heart that make a mockery out of the impossible. Today I read one of my favorite passages from a work by Rilke to a succession of senior high kids. Christine first introduced me to these words sometime during our first year of college. I mentioned her name, talked about our friendship and told the class how I still had the little slip of paper that Christine gave me with these words:
"Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."
- Rainer Maria Rilke, 1903, in "Letters to a Young Poet"
Thanks, Christine, for your wisdom that still inspires. I will miss you more than ever.

Dr. Fusillo was a wonderful doctor and lovely person. My two children were her patients for years and she helped us cope with allergies for many a season. She had a great way with kids and I really enjoyed our adult conversations too, about allergies, living with teenagers, school, and more. She enjoyed sharing the great view of the Hudson River from her office and what a wonderful sense of humor she had! Dr. Fusillo will be sorely missed and we extend our condolences to her family and friends.
