Dr. Dorothy Height; my Soror, my Sister, my inspiration, my leader, my Queen. That is the way it felt. But, she didnot belong to me. She belonged to her family, to the NCNW, to Delta Sigma Theta, to Black People, to Women, to ALL People, to the world, and to GOD. Thank you her family for sharing. She was an amazing, articulate, intelligent, diligent, persistent, humble, warrior for the struggle for human rights. She began her struggle as a teenager in the anti-lynching crusades and continued her struggle until the end of her life on earth. And, we were blessed because she lived a long life. She was our Queen of the Civil Rights Movement and she taught us all the way. Males, females, dignitaries, grassroots people, and Presidents looked to her for direction. I think of her today as we move towards the month anniversary of her death. I MISS HER; HER SMILE, HER HATS, HER DIGNITY, HER SPIRIT, HER TENACITY, AND HER DEDICATION TO THE FIGHT FOR EQUALITY. Rest in Heaven our ANGEL and no "ALUTE TO CONTUNUA", through your inspiration,THE STRUGGLE WILL GO ON. Soror Lynnette

My great-grandmother was a devoted member of Dr. Heights organization for many years until she passed. Thank you Dr. Height for being the voice for the children of slaves and thank you for teaching them to have a voice of their own. VT....Los Angeles, CA
