I still to this day see you in so many places. When I look in my granddaughter's eyes, I remember your loving care. As for me, I remain brokenhearted, there is no replacement for you Eileen. I miss you so very much. Thank You for holding my hand through breast cancer, your thoughtfulness, your care, your smile. You will forever be a part of me.

My daughter remembered her advice at dinner again last night. We were eating chicken soup. It was one of the remedies on the list she handwrote when we visited her with a persistent virus. The detail said to include the neck and feet which had particular anti-viral qualities.

Eileen was such a strong presence that I can see her and hear here as if I had just been with her. We knew how much she cared for each of us, and all of us. When I had a mysterious virus, I felt totally held by her concern. She will continue to be an enduring inspiration in my life.

I worked with Ilene at Petaluma Valley Hospital. She had the kindest heart and greatest laugh. She was my hero. I am very sorry to hear of her passing.

Meeting Eileen in Point Reyes last year for the first time as a new patient, she and I learned to our mutual delight that we both grew up in Queens, New York, married and gave birth to sons at age 19; that we both went to CCNY and majored in chemistry. We quickly traded life stories and laughed about our paths crossing in Point Reyes Station. Brilliant in diagnosis, encyclopedic in knowledge, I loved her from the start. I cherish the wonderful "lists" given after each visit. Knowing Eileen even for this short time has been a memorable experience. My thoughts are with her loving husband and son, his wife and the grandchildren who will carry her memory in their hearts and her genes into their future lives. Eileen Gleber lives on!
