“You see how bright the sun and the stars are. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun" from the inner immaterial light of God. Whenever the angels appear upon earth,
they are almost always surrounded by light.”
St. John of Kronstadt, My Life in Christ
To the V. Rev. Paul Schneirla.
We are truly and deeply saddened at the falling asleep of beloved
Khourieh Shirley, may she rest in the bosom of our Lord.
Oh how we ponder on those “good old days” as students at St. Vladimir's Seminary and how she and Father Paul entertained us. Not to mention all those lunches and dinners we shared at conventions. We were so happy as she made the transition to becoming Orthodox. Khourieh Shirley was a unique woman and the impact she has made on us is everlasting.
We pray the Lord our God, who art in all places present and fillest all things and the creator of all will abide in you and to comfort your heart and heal you.
Khourieh Shirley will be remembered and prayed for this Sunday in the Divine Liturgy.
You have our prayers.

To Father Paul and Family, Lynnand I certainly grieve the loss of Shirley known to us since 1959 when we went to Seminary and were graciousl treated to their hospitslity. Over the years we continued at every convention to have lunch, trade "ecclesaticalgossip" and just plan laugh and have fun. Lynnand Shirley liked one another immensely, becasue for one thing, they shared a kind of irreverence for the things we took sdo seriouslly, which made the bond deeper and more profound. Plus, they both enjoyed the arts and "things" beautiful as only what New York can offer. Our lunchess were long and meaningful and we looked forward to them yearly. She made an impression on us as students as and asw e grew older in the service of the church, we became peers so to speak and the intellrctual exchanges were always challening. These are precious remembnrances that has sustained us over the years, becasue, we knew we were in s "special club" of Convention foursome, who could loook at all the proceedings with a good perspective. Shirley has remained in our hearts all these yearsand we are terribly saddned by her Falling Asleeep in the Lord!
May you all be consoled that she was a smart and wise partnwer to your DAD and when she established a friend it was for life, something rare these days.
May you also, be consoled that she "marched to her own tune" and was not must one of the crowd.
Plese know, that both Shirley and your dad played a major role in the nistory of our Archdiocese. It may not have been easy to transition from her background into tnis Middle Eastern Oriental ethos, but she did so with aplomb and she will be missed by "us" who genuuinely appreciated her y very special bran of being Shirley!
May her memory be eternal and our Lord soothe your souls with His love...
With all our hearts and prayers,
+Father Antony and Lynn Gabriel, almost life long admirers of her individuality( I have been a priest 50 years now, so I am one of the oldies....
Econt has sustained us over the years, becasuse we knew we had tomos Antony Gabriel
