LEHMANN--John E. John Edward Lehmann, former President and CEO of The Butterick Company, Inc., 82, died in Ocoee, FL on April 18, 2014 surrounded by his family. Mr. Lehmann was born on December 23, 1931 on Staten Island, NY to John A. Lehmann and Catherine (DeYoung) Lehmann. Upon graduation from Port Richmond High School in 1949, he enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War. After the service, Mr. Lehmann became a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service while attending college at night. He married Suzanne Grover in 1957, and graduated from Wagner College in 1962. Hired by The Butterick Company, Inc., Mr. Lehmann began in their accounting department, becoming President and CEO in the late 1980s. In 1993, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Wagner College. Upon retirement from Butterick, Mr. Lehmann devoted his life to traveling around the world with his family. Mr. Lehmann found no greater joy than being with his children and their families. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. He loved animals, traveling, playing Jeopardy and Trivial Pursuit, taking walks, horseback riding, playing with his dogs, going out to dinner, and telling jokes. Mr. Lehmann is survived by his five children, Krista Rekos and her husband Rich of Newtown, CT; Karla Lafferty and her husband Jack of Clermont, FL; Karyn Lehmann of Groveland, FL; Craig Lehmann and his wife Maureen of Weeki Wachee, FL; and Kurt Lehmann and his wife Marion of Belle Mead, NJ; his seven grandchildren, Travis Rekos, Shane Rekos, Samantha Lafferty, Erin Lafferty, Kaitlin Lehmann, Connor Lehmann, and Kelly Lehmann; and his wife and mother of his children, Suzanne Lehmann. Mr. Lehmann was predeceased by his daughter, Kim Adrienne Lehmann, his granddaughter, Jessica Adrienne Rekos, and his sisters, Barbara Aultman and Evelyn Granacher. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Harmon Funeral Home, Staten Island, NY. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 9:30am at Christ Church New Brighton, Staten Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Jessica Rekos Foundation, PO Box 713, Newtown, CT 06470 (jessicarekos.org), or the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 (alz.org).

Uncle Johnny, such a big personality, larger than life! Loved when he would come to Ohio to visit, he always made me laugh! Loved the stories he would tell of him and my mother growing up together! May you all find some comfort in the memories you have of him. So very sorry for your loss.
