It's really shocking to hear from you Brian that your dad passed on, I could not believe it.
Remembering those good times over 30 years when both of us was seeing each at exhibitions and especially you kids, David and you, would be going with your dad to Germany fish shows .
Those years has never been forgotten and will be in my hearts forever having your dad joking around with me.
Calling me UGLY CHINESE.
I miss hugging him , which I always did it when we meet,
Brian , David , your dad is the best and always will in our hearts.
On hearing the passing on of your dad, I now know life is short and we must treasure it.
My deepest sympathy to your grandma and your whole family.
Take care and God Bless

Knowing Mark Stein for nearly forty years has enriched our lives, tremendously, both professionally and personally. Mark was a highly intelligent and unique individual, full of wit and humanity in all that he did.
He will be missed dearly by us. We have lost the best of friends, but our memories of Mark will live on within us forever.
Our sincerest condolences extend to Mark's family, and all of his friends, who share the memories of this important man, at this time of great sorrow.
God Bless You and Keep You Close, Always, my dear friend.

While working at the NY Aquarium in Coney Island back in the 80's, I used to visit his wholesale store on Tuesdays and of course good food was involved. We would get great Chinese lunches and sit and talk shop surrounded by all things aquatic. I'm so glad we recently reconnected and saddened to hear of his passing. I'm hopeful his family will visit (as my guests) his aquatic denizens of the deep out at Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, NY.
Mark is certainly on the NFG to a good place.

Dear David,

It was a special moment this Sunday morning and I realized what a special influence your dad has been.

Our thoughts are with you, Michelle, Brian and the whole Stein family,

Mark was one of the founding OFI-members who believed in the necessity of an organization for the defense of the interests of the businessmen in our industry.
We remember Mark when he was encouraging his customers to work with marine fish, starting in the 70's with marine fish from Hawaii.
In those days, the beginning of the marine fish industry, he had the knowledge & experience to ship those marine fish from Hawaii, all over the world, through E Mark Tropical in New York, with good arrivals and mostly neglectable losses.
Later on he became more specialized in the marine fish from the Philippines and I believe his wife Analesa played an important role in it.
We remember Mark as someone who enjoyed life, with lots of humor and good food. This was certainly one of the reasons why he opened in the 90's a Chinese Restaurant in Brooklyn…or wasn't it 2 restaurants later on?.
The people who had the privilege to know him in person did all look up to him…yes, he was ‘big' and when having tough discussions it wasn't easy to match up with him.
I have a good memory of his strong personality because his outspoken view did make me often think twice. My most recent meeting at Aquarama (Singapore May 2013) with Mark will be my last souvenir that I will cherish well!
I wish his wife Analesa, his mother, his 2 sons, his 3 granddaughters, friends and relatives a lot of strength to overcome this personal loss!
