In loving memory of Michael Kenndy, Esq., one of the kindest, most honest, most caring mentors I have ever had the privilege of spending time with - we celebrate the life and transition of one of the finest men I have ever known. Always smiling. Always sharp. Always empathetic. Always profound. Never boastful. Never mean. Always forgiving. To really know MK personally and serve with him in bad times, good times, zany times, paranoid times, boring times, mind blowing times, perilous times, and ecstatic times - allthough maybe a little bit crazy at times - was a real blessing.
The law may be a two-way street but there is only one side. I may have known the meaning of integrity before my years with Michael but I know the meaning infinitely better in the many years after I walked "Not Guilty", a kindred spirit in canine form, if ever there was one - a miniature ginger apricot poodle whose haircuts cost more than mine. Mine were not cheap!
In many ways, I never really left Michael and Eleanora -and Michael Kennedy's patient, fun loving, and righteous spirit - coupled with his sheer tenacity and fortitude in the face of adversity - will never really leave all who were privileged and humbled to really know and work with the bona fide man. A giant among giants - an attorney every bit as brave, human, and humane, and even more shrewd and wise than Donovan (Bridge of Spies) - perservering against all odds in one of the toughest legal systems in the world. (the United States of America).
May the good Lord - however we perceive Her/Him/or It to be - bless you, Michael Kennedy, and keep you, may S(he(/It lift up Her/His/Its countenance upon you, and grant you eternal peace, And may the light shine upon you now and forevermore - eternal sunshine of a spotless mind:
How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd
Alexander Pope, Eloisa to Abelard
Wherever you are right now, Michael, I send iinfinte love, admiration, gratitude, and respect, And all the very best!
Always, Tom (& Not Guilty in spirit whose canine spirit leads packs of millions more). We cannot begin to acknowledge just how profoundly your life changed the entire world many, many times over.
Cheers, my dear friend, Rest in Peace
P.S. I'll gladly eagerly await you in our next reincarnation so we can do it all all over again. Suggest New York City rename MoMA the Michealeanora Kennedy Museum of Post Modern Art. And Memorial Sloan Kettering build the Michaeleanora Kennedy Global Cancer Cure platform. And that the United Nations and humanity forever turn that scragly bitter lemon grove in Palermo into the the most impactful force, a veritable monument against trafficking (human trafficking especially of women and children, trafficking persons illegally across waters and seas, traffickng drugs, weapons, guns being the cornerstones) for all time. And that the Central Park Conservancy Plant A Forest of Oaks, Elms, and Chestnutt Trees in Celebration of Your Life and the Most Fragrant and Variegated Victory Garden of Pure White Roses directly across the street from the Hampshire House to celebrate your life. Happy days are here again. (Alexander, Alexander's Rag Time Band)

Dear Eleanora, we are so saddened by Michael's passing; he was a man among men, always smiling and joyful and charitable. Few knew of his illustrious career because he was not boastful nor brash, but always sharp, friendly and caring. We will all miss him.

I just learned of dear Michael's passing. They say a good man was hard to find but we found one, for sure, in him. His defense of my comrades who struggled for Ireland's freedom will never be forgotten. May the angels carry him into the arms of the One who sees all, forgives all, loves all.
God bless you, Michael!

Dear Eleanora,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Michael Kennedy. I wish I had a chance to meet him and after reading his bio I was in awe at his accomplishments. I have fond memories of trying a large case with Michael in Galveston, Texas back in 1980. It must have been March because Michael brought green boutonnieres for all jurors, lawyers, defendants and the judge to wear in honor of St. Patrick's day. Very deft courtroom move. It was a pleasure trying a case with such a brilliant lawyer and getting to know Michael and Eleanora personally.
Rest in Peace.

Ellie, Michael was a fierce believer in doing what was fair and just. He lived his life as he believed, quite a remarkable characteristic. Eleanore, Anna, Lisa, Scott & Mike,
In December he hung orchids in every window
In August he tended a garden by the sea
He pitched a perfect game to every child
And taught me strength when I felt only weak.

Our hearts are broken. We have lost our hero and protector. Dearest Eleanora we send our deepest Love and condolences and a favorite poem by Rumi.
For our beloved Brother Michael
"Shouldn't the soul arise
when a gentle prompting
from the source of all strength
calls it to flight?
Shouldn't a fish, when it hears
the sound of waves, flip
from the shore into the sea?
Wouldn't the falcon on hearing
the drum beating "Return, return!"
leave the hunt and rejoin the King?
Shouldn't every Saint dance
like a speck in the eternal sun
and save himself from decay?
Such grace and beauty, such giving
of life that to ignore it
could only bring pain and misfortune.
Return then, fly home,
your feathered wings outspread,
for you have escaped the cage!
Abandon your stagnant pool
for the running waters of life.
Come out of the vestibule
to the soul's place of honor.
Go ahead, for we are coming too,
from the world of separation
to the world of union.
How long will we fill our pockets
with dirt and stones like children?
Let us leave childish things behind
and sit at the table of men.
See how this earthly frame
has trapped you? Let's split the sack
and stick our necks out!
Take this letter of love
in your right hand. You're not a child,
remember your left from your right!
God said to Reason's herald, "Begone!"
To the hand of Death he said:
"Anoint only the ear of lust."
A call came to the soul:
Go to the unseen world.
Take the gain and the goods
and lament the pain no more.
Cry out and claim your Kingship.
The gift of an answer will be yours;
and the knowledge behind the question.

So very sorry to learn of the passing of a modern day Clarence Darrow in Michael Kennedy. His life-long support for civil liberties and personal choice made America an even greater nation.
With such a full and interesting life, hopefully, despite Michael's preference for privacy over publicity, his family, in time, will be willing to share parts of Michael's life with the general public.
I'd buy that book and see that movie!

Condolences and immeasurable thanks from the board of directors of NORML, it's national network of chapters and lawyers for Michael's (and High Times') stalwart support for the organization for 41 years.

The epitome of an all too rarefied form of courage, seldom seen in most times, especially now. Even if one chose to disagree with his positions or clients he represented, no one of any rational thought capacity could challenge the sincerity of his convictions.

Michaeleanore first were my "bosses" through the Pizza years. Both quickly became mentors and have been a guiding compass for me since. We had bad days, good days, and great days. Words cannot begin to express the love I have for both - and Michael's passing is really leaving me inconsolable. Michael, I was so lucky to learn from you - and I will never forget. You leave this world an infiniely better place than you found it - all because of you. You will forever be a bridge to millions and millions. There will never be a finer true gentleman, both a lamb and lion, with greater integrity, brilliance, or courage. Wherever we go, I am sure we will all go on together - Bern and I are both going to miss you so much but you are always here, with us now, purer than a dozen white roses, the eternal sunshine of a spotless mind. May the Lord bless you and keep you now and ever more. With the greatest respect, appreciation, and love,
