Polly was my landlady during four years of graduate school. I fondly remember the all people I met there, her mother Piggie, Smiley the dog, Timothy the literary cat, the raccoons on the roof, and tales of launching Head Start and sneaking into Cuba to celebrate the revolution. I will always be grateful for the support she gave me through some tough times. Rest in peace, Polly.

Polly was my 2nd and 3rd grade teacher. Cannot estimate her huge effect on my life. Talked to her on the 'phone a coupla years ago. She still had vivid memories of me and all of my classmates. Will be missed just doesn' cover my feelings.

Dear Greenberg family,
Just heard of Polly's passing today, which saddened us very much. We were just thinking of her usual end of year gatherings and how we missed seeing her this past year. As you'll remember my husband and I met at 4914 Ashby and if it weren't for Polly and your house we never would've met or had our two wonderful kids! She welcomed us so warmly to DC & helped create a second home for us. Here's to celebrating Polly's wonderful life and all the people's lives she touched and brightened! God bless you all... Polly has left a rich history in the lives of so many people whose independence and strength she has fostered in her professional and personal life. Her convictions, her resolve and her creative solutions to problems inspired our admiration Her warm friendship brightened our days. We send our condolences to her exceptional family.

Dear Greenberg Family,
The shock of the message about your mother's passing is ebbing - but her memory will be with me forever. I treasure the copy of _Slippery Shoes_ that she signed for me, saying "To ... who loves ece history as much as I do." I treasure our lunch discussions about your grandmother, and about Polly's Head Start work. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
