I will never forget Uncle Ronald. I remember as a kid when he'd come over to help my dad work through a plumbing nightmare, a wiring nightmare, or some other bit of technical wizardry. He seemed to know almost everything about almost everything and he had the tools to match ...always well-worn and familiar. My dad and I both were always in awe of him . He was a stickler for safety in the days when that wasn't quite fashionable. He was the first to put safety glasses on my face and warn me to unplug a power tool before fiddling with it. I remember those things as I reenact them now. It's funny how you remember the first time no matter what it is. I wasn't really old enough to learn a lot more but I'm sure that some of the things I learned from my dad actually came from Uncle Ronald. DNA is only a one way we pass things on.
