When I think of Ruth Landau I think of unabashed, unpretentious and unbridled love of family. As a long time friend of Jill's I always felt as welcome by Ruth (I prefer Ruthie) as any other Landau member, maybe even mistaken for one. Ruthie was a force and will be missed.

The big house just across the street from ours was my home away from home. Ruthie's doors were always open to me. They led to a wonderland filled with works of art, a grand piano. harpsichord, an attic filled with nooks and crannies and was truly intriguing no matter how many times one entered. I remember eating many great meals here (although it remained a well-kept secret whether Ruthie or Mabel was the actual chef). Ruthie and Herbie inspired my mind via their love of art and music. They captured
my heart with their warmth. They will be sorely missed but never to be forgotten.

The Landau's lived just down the street from me - and that house was the first house I ever saw "art" in. There were sculptures, busts, paintings, and pianos. Houses I knew at the time did not look like that. I remember both of your parents fondly and am sorry for your loss.
As there is no Germany in the list, I will be from Munich, CT!

I spent half of my life between the ages of 7 and 17 at the Landau's. Ruth made their home, my second home and created a loving and accepting space for me to be. She made me laugh and she made me think. She was one of a kind and I smile when I remember her. My sympathies to you all - Marcia, Kathy, Jill and Philip
