The older I get the more I long for yesterday, yet I know that yesterday is gone and to never to be anymore. The faces of yesterday are being buried one by one. The day of Walter Cronkite's death once again brings us to another goodbye to yesterday. My favorite news anchor from childhood was Walter Cronkite, I came home from school did my homework and watched the evening news as often as I was near a Television set. I remember so vividly him chocking back the tears and removing his glasses as he announced the death of President Kennedy a poignant moment in American History. Mr. Cronkite has been dubbed the most trusted man in news and I truly believe that, that was a very true statement. I missed him when left the anchor desk in 1981 and I still miss him today.

I long for another Walter Cronkite who delivered the news with dignity and refrained from the sound-bite that presently dominates news today. Goodnight Mr. Cronkite and thanks for the memories and we know that we will see you again someday; yet we know not when for we miles yet to travel before we sleep. The world was a better place with you in it and now that you are gone there is a void and that is simply the way it is on this 12th day of September 2009. God Bless the Cronkite Family is my prayer and thank you for sharing your father with all of us......

For Walter Cronkite
"The voice of honesty."

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

Walter Cronkite was the bets news anchor CBS-TV has ever had at the newsdesk.since his departre from the CBS-TV newsdesk in 1981,things at the newsdesk weren't the same.When he was at the newsdesk,there were first in the news ratings.But during the first 10 years after departure from the newsdesk,CBS-TV was usually last in the news ratings.those were the factors that made thibgs different.Out of all the people who wera the the CBS-TV newsdesk,Walter Cronkite had the highest standards.He set the newest standards for newscasting while he was at the newsdesk at CBS-TV.out of all the people who worked ath the news desk in the CBS-TV newsroom,Walter Cronkite was the perosn who practiced the highest standards.!

Mr. Cronkite was my mentor. It was my lifetime wish to have met Mr. Cronkite. I met Dan Rather, when he visited Alpine and I conveyed this to him and sent my regards to Mr. Cronkite with Mr. Rather.
My dad, Ben, and I would watch the CBS Evening News together and his Vietnam coverage, which I later served. Mr. Cronkite was my and for many an EDUCATOR and this has not been stressed in his passing. His persona and style of coverage in-bedded in me a desire for awareness and caring of world and national events. I hope some family member reads my note. This will help me, knowing that I have conveyed my feelings to his family of a man that influenced my life. I would have been privileged and honored to have met, Mr. Cronkite. I would have given him an embrace and said, "Gracias for being a positive force in my lifetime."
Thank You,
