Words aren't nearly enough to express my deep, deep sadness at hearing this news.

Neil (and his family) showed us great kindness when we first moved to New Zealand, and from a working relationship grew one of the most important, honest and meaningful friendships I could ever have hoped to have made.

I was lucky to have known Neil, and his grace, temperament, unfailing good humour and support will be so greatly missed by all that shared my good fortune

Jane , Kate and Lucy - I wish so much there was something, anything I could do to ease this moment.

With my respect, always

Gary

There were so many things to love about Neil. He was so kind, generous, intelligent (hugely more than most, but never patronising), funny, self deprecating, a gentleman to the last and the proudest, most loving husband and father it's possible to imagine. And despite being a Brit, he was undoubtedly one of the most devoted fans a New Zealand rowing team could ever have. Thank you for your friendship and the many happy memories. Jane, Lucy, Kate, we send you all our love in your heartbreak, Laming, Sandy, Robbie and Eric

HAINES, Neil. This week the PwC family lost a friend, valued colleague and a great partner. Neil made a positive difference to all those who knew him and had the privilege of working alongside him. He was the consummate professional but more importantly a kind and humble man - he will be missed by all. Neil had a long and distinguished career with PwC joining in 1983 in the UK. He then went on to work for PwC in Hungary, India, Jakarta and New Zealand. Our thoughts are with Jane, Lucy and Kate.
