Hi Roger, I wish I had caught up with you before you left this earth. We would have reminisced about the old days at NPBHS and how I would always sneak a drawing of David Bowie into my assessments much to your objection. I wish I could of told you all the things I've done since leaving High School - inspired by you (THANK YOU) to attend Wellington Polytechnic Visual Communication and Design, working in design agencies, before setting up my own business and working in the film industry - you'd have laughed and said I'm just pawning myself off for top dollar. Your art class was my haven and I spent many lunch hours their refining my skills - THANK YOU. I still remember your laugh - you treated your students as equals, we'd discuss music and art history and the politics of NPBHS at the time being more focused towards sport than culture THANK YOU. You will always be my favorite teacher and my heart is hurting you're no longer here. THANK YOU.

I am very sad to learn of Roger's passing and wish to send my warmest regards and condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Roger changed my life. He was my art teacher at Stratford High School, and it was Roger who taught me how to make something from nothing, a skill that I have used ever since, first as a musician, and more recently as a music teacher. He was the first person that ever truly inspired me, and now, as a teacher, I always try to do for my students what Roger did for me. He gave me the gift of creativity, and I am deeply saddened to realize that he is gone. I will never forget Roger. A truly special man.Rest In Peace.
