Roy was a dear friend whose memory I will always treasure. Whenever I would come by to visit him we would have some of the best, funniest, heartfelt conversations. He thought deeply about the world and people and had a knack for remembering even obscure details from previous discussions. He made me feel so valued and cared for as a person, and it was clear from who he was that he had lived a rich life and had a lot of wisdom to share with a young girl like me. My heart is heavy with regret that I couldn't visit him for our conversations (which we both looked forward to) over a cuppa more often in what would be the last six months of his life as I was living in another city. But I know Roy would say (as he had previously scolded me for apologising over the reduced frequency of visits during exams, reminding me to prioritise) don't worry, that he would still be there and look forward to our next catch up. I've learned from him nothing is more important than people. He encouraged me to be brave in living my life, teased me about having fun and making sure I meet a guy and not just stay wrapped up in studies... I am so grateful for the friendship we could have. He treated me like his own granddaughter, especially when my own grandfather passed. To the family he leaves behind, especially to Shane and Audrey (who first met me when I came for that first conversation with Roy 5 years ago ) thank you for letting me be a part of his life, albeit a small one. My life is made altogether richer for it and I do share in the sorrow of his loss. May he Rest In Peace.

We will miss his quirky sense of humour and warm hearted nature which has been passed on to his sons.
He was a wonderful Uncle to Karim, Dina, Nadia, and a dearly beloved brother to our Mum Jean. We will miss him dearly xx
