You are not forgotten, dear David. You, a most extraordinary and wonderful friend. Hope you are not bored nor disappointed with your afterlife. I suspect you will not be. I look forward to meeting you there.

As David and I discussed the existence of the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale in Midland, Texas he was amazed that this was basically in his own "back-yard" since 1962. In December, 2011 when I challenged him to come and listen to what we have to offer as he became a tremendous supporter of the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale he wrote "The oddity is that although I've listened to classical music since around 1960, and have an incredible number of classical CDs, all ripped onto iTunes, portable, and I went to Rice and Houston has a decent symphony, I have never heard a live symphony. I'll correct that."
He graciously sponsored the Masterworks Series of the 51st season which opens on September 14, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. and he had all intentions of attending his first symphony on this day. Please, if you can, I encourage you to attend this concert as we remember a true fan of classical music.

I never knew David personally, but from his posts on the People's Cube, and the honorable final words Oleg Atbashian (Red Square) gave; he was a great man that I wish I got to know personally. Rest in Peace.

I never met David in person but had the joy to know him on-line and interact with him that way.
I am truly sadden at his passing but I take comfort that his words and his wit have been captured on-line for all to read now and in the future so others will to be able to appreciate just how special and gifted he truly was. Your journey ended on earth to soon and you are missed.
My sincere sympathies to his family and to his loved ones.

Well, David, you lived an exemplary life, and I know you can read all of these wonderful comments about you here, right now. You were decency and brilliance personified, and none could be more generous than you. Witty, smart, funny, principled, and sympathetic. Whenever I play Mozart CD's I'll be thinking of you.
My condolences to your brother and father, and partner, Gary, and to all of the fine gals at your business. I never met them, but through your letters, I got to know them and how you felt about all of them.

I knew David as an online acquaintance. Like many here, I grew to appreciate his wit. What I remember most was a man who had the rare maturity to openly discuss various opinions and opposing points of view without either taking or giving personal offence. This Christian is sad to see him go.

David's rapier wit and command of The King's English was simply amazing. To love The People's Cube was to love David. He will be sorely missed.

I communicated with David online and in emails. He brought a much needed light to my life with his piercing, insightful wit and humor, and his brilliant use of the English language. He seemed to sense my longing for the exchange he offered and encouraged it lovingly. A man of voluminous kindness. He was instrumental in my finding the love of my life, Christopher.
Chris, who has known him longer than I, concurred that he was a very kind and humble person. They were good friends. We wanted to visit him way out there in Pecos. Alas, that shall not be.
Oh, my dear David. I am so sorry you are gone from us! What a wonderful contribution you were to my life and to so many others. I cannot contain these stinging tears.
My condolences to your wonderful father, who you spoke of so lovingly and your brother Mark. The same to your staff and friends.

My heart was broken and tears flowed freely upon hearing of this dear man passing. I knew David only through the internet and email, but he brought such joy to my life, and he also showed me great generosity during a time of need. His command of language and appreciation of music led me to a fuller knowledge and appreciation. I miss you dearly Dave, the world is a duller place this morning.

While I never had the pleasure of meeting or speaking to David, I corresponded with him frequently. A fascinating man with a keen wit and peerless vocabulary, he helped me through a very difficult spot in my life. Just one of many ways he touched my life. I'll catch up to you in time, my good man!

My dictionary will gather dust, as no one else I know has such a brilliant command of the English language. A week before he died, I teased him about having to look up words in his email! David brought a silent joy to folks that got to know him and appreciate his wit and humor. He will be truly missed. A big hug to his employees and his family. God has truly gained an intellectual new tenant. Bless you, David!
