Barbara Ann Sowick

Barbara Ann Sowick, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in Menifee, California.

She was born on November 15, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to Lawrence and Sara Pelland. After she graduated from high school, Barbara enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for two years. After that, she moved to California to be with her family and raise her children. She always worked hard and kept a positive outlook on life.

Barbara was an executive administrative secretary for the Arrowhead Hilton Lodge where she retired after 15 years of service. Barbara had lived in Yucaipa for 13 years and Crestline for 15 years prior to that. Barbara always enjoyed being a volunteer at the Yucaipa Senior Center and crocheting lap throws for the Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 15 years, Fred W. Sowick of Menifee, Calif.; daughters, Shelli and husband Allen Windham of Hemet, Calif., Debra Hall of South Carolina, Sara and husband Gary Glibbery of Menifee, Calif., Barbara and husband Kevin DeVoll of Oregon and Kim and husband Jake Turner of Yucaipa, Calif.; son, Ralph and wife Donna Hall of Texas; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her youngest son, Robert Hall in 2003.

A graveside service was Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:45 a.m. at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518, Staging Area #4.
