Gail Gertrude Dye

Gail Gertrude Dye, 74, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at her home in Maryville, Illinois, surrounded by her family.

She attended Soldan-Blewett High School for three years, served as a majorette; graduated from Kirkwood High School; received an Associate of Science degree in criminal justice and law enforcement from The University of Akron. She retired as records clerk and chief's secretary from the Fairlawn, Ohio Police Department. With her husband, she lived in St. Louis, Missouri; Greenville, Illinois; Akron, Ohio; Cortland, New York; and Fort Meyers, Florida, before coming to Maryville, Illinois. Gail was a long time supporter of Akron Zips athletics and belonged to many professional and social organizations. She was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Maryville, and a fervent witness in the area of missions, especially working in support of the Maryville Food Pantry.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Dr. Charles M. Dye; loving mother of Catherine E. Dye and Charles E. Dye; loving mother-in-law of Carol L. Dye; loving grandmother of Matthew, Christopher, and Justin; loving sister of Joan Bierman, Beverly Hankins, Edward Phillips and Lorraine Pharris; and aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 6325 W. Main, Maryville, Illinois 62062. Condolences may be expressed online at www.hakassly.com.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 6325 W. Main Street, Maryville, Illinois. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 6 p.m. and a dinner will follow at the church thereafter.
