George Evans Obituary
George D. Evans, 90, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Manchester died Thursday, April 24, 2014.
He was born December 28, 1923 in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia to the late John J. and Helen A. (Smith) Evans and had lived in the Manchester area for over 50 years. George was an Army veteran of World War II, having received a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was manager of the Lawson's (now Circle K) in Manchester. and was a 32nd degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Marie in 2009; and is survived by children, Georgeann Evans, Robert (Jenny) Rhoades, Bill (Hazel) Croley; grandchildren, Brenda Brocki, Bobbie Kahl, Thomas Croley, Dustin Rhoades and Monica Rhoades; great-grandchildren, Nathan Kahl, Elizabeth Kahl, Crystal Brocki and Terri Brocki; brothers, Jim Evans and Tim Evans; and sister, Barbara Mercer.
He will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service WEDNESDAY, 11 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 East Cherry St. (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating.
Burial with Military Honors by Firestone #3383 at Manchester Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home TUESDAY, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Miller Family (George & Marie's neighbors) were saddened to hear of the passing of George. We all have fond memories of him and Marie. George and Marie are together again. Our prayers go out to the family.

George was a kind, sweet, wonderful man with a great sense of humor. When he and the family moved out of Manchester, we all missed him greatly. Now we will miss him even more. Please watch over your family and friends as we remember you now and for many years to come!
