I am extremely sorry to hear of the passing of Joe. He was always ready to help anyone at anytime no matter how inconvenient or how little notice he received. In our late teens early twenties Joey and I hung out together a lot. His family treated you like you we're one of their children. It is a sad day to know that Joey is not here but I know he is watching us. He was my friend and I was the better for it. Rest with God Joey.you.have earned it..
Deepest sym;pathies to the Moffitt family. It had been years since I've seen Joey but I can still hear him clear as a bell the last time I saw him...."cottons"!!! His smiling face always beeming with joy.
My most sincere sympathies to Uncle Jim, Aunt Viv, Bob and Mary Rita, and to all the family and friends who have suffered this unendurable loss. I just feel so fortunate to have known Joey and spent so much time with him growing up because we lived so close to each other, went to the same school, got raised by each others' parents, slept in the same bed, peed in the same pool and I could not have asked for a better pal. He was my best friend and my grief is deeply felt. Ah Joey, we hardly knew ye!

What a smile, what a laugh, those eyes, and that heart. Uncle Jim and family, you have our deepest sympathies. Joey was one of a kind in the best possible sense.
At Tappan this year he and Dave took my daughters, Reilly and Mia, and me out in his boat. We went swimming beyond The Cove - just the five of us. It was a beautiful, hot summer day. It was like we owned the lake. Joey floated on his back in the water, eyes closed, nothing but sunshine, warmth, a slight breeze. You could see his joy, his appreciation of the moment. That was his gift - being able to squeeze the sublime from the simplest of things... Later on, Mia noticed she'd left her life jacket along the shore where we'd been swimming. Joey and Dave didn't think anything of it - they offered to go fetch the life jacket for us… We stayed up late each night after the campfire playing euchre in the cabin, Joey comically illustrating the various diversionary tactics a person can use in order to steal the deal. Reilly thought he was hilarious, a riot, and couldn't wait each night till the campfire was over so we could play cards with Joey again. She'd never met him before, yet she couldn't get enough of him. That was Joey, I guess. This magnet, a guy you wanted to be around because you never know what might happen.
Joey, you'll be sorely missed from this world. But you'll always be there, hiking up and down the hills of Tappan, the spirit of unabashed joy.
Dear Moffitt Family:
We were so sorry to hear about our friend Joe. We loved him dearly and we will miss all the laughs we shared. You are in our prayers - God Bless!
While I haven't seen Joe in years he was a North Hill boy like me, and everyone from the Hill knows we don't lose touch; when we see each other we just pick up right where we left off. Joe was a great guy who was a lifelong friend to my brother Mike. He was easygoing and fun to be around.
My deepest condolences and prayers go out to Mary and the rest of the family.

Joey, I am sure your heart is still here with us through this time but in spirit I suspect you are baiting your hook and casting a lazy line on Tappen in the shade of that huge old tree you loved to nap under. Don't forget your boots, Joe. Save a spot for me.
My prayers go out to the Moffitt family. Joey was the nicest guy and will be missed by many. I am thankful that he was a part of my life.
Dear Uncle Jim and family: I was very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Although I don't get to see anyone very often, by luck I got to spend some time with Joe and his boys this summer at Tappan. He was just so incredibly nice to Emily (and my whole family). I'll always remember that, and our childhoods at Tappan Lake! With much love, Mary (Kelliher) Wilt
