Dear Delaney Family;

Greetings from your AFS Foreign Exchange Student "brother" in Argentina.

I really appreciated Mr. Delaney and I remember him lovingly. I always tell my wife, Lili, that I felt loved and protected by "Mom" and "Dad" Delaney at my "American home" back in 1968-1969.

Many times I look around the USA (with to "my home" on Keller Rd. and every time I did, I had in mind that he still lived there...

God bless you all.
Love from José and Lili from Argentina

Thank you for the chance to participate in Dad's memorial service. Please convey my love to all the family....

Below are some memories and thoughts about my Dad, and namesake, Ralph E. Delaney;

I remember, when I was maybe 5 years old, getting up at 4 AM to drive 90 miles to go fishing.. Sitting on an Orange crate to be tall enough to get a pole over the side of the big old wooden boat...?

I remember drinking my first sip of coffee – {three pounds of sugar & one quart of milk to a tablespoon of coffee. (I thought I was really a big man at 6 years old!)

I remember that Dad was always there for us, be it fishing, hunting, little league, DeMolay, Basketball, or my first day of college. Always encouraging, always exhorting me to do my best – to improve, to be better. Most importantly, to play by the rules, and to be a good sport. {Something he was better at than me}

I remember Dad working hard, two jobs every Christmas, to insure that each of his 6 kids got a really nice Christmas present.

I remember listening to his philosophy of treating every customer the way you would want to be treated. To be sure that his customers received good value for the money they paid his company. His belief in doing the right thing – even if no one was watching. I learned many lessons just watching him interact over the phone with his customers, with people in the church, and with his leadership within our family. I carried those lessons with me for a lifetime. They are the bedrock of my beliefs and my success in business.

I have tried to honor Dad by living my life in a way he would be proud of me- even if he could not see. I did not really appreciate the great strength of character he exhibited in his kindness and generosity to his family and others, until Betty and I had Children and Grandchildren of our own.

Dad will not be remembered by history as a great man. His accomplishments will not appear in the newspapers or history books. But I know he is a great – great man! He lived his life closer to the ideal that Jesus laid out than any person I have ever known. I know he & Mom are together again in Heaven. I also know that when my life here on earth is finished I will join them & Brother Kenny & Sister Linda, & Nephew Michael, and all those who have gone before.

I know this because the GREATEST of Dad's gifts to his family is a LOVE of, and FAITH in the LORD. Thank you Dad, I miss you.

Your son, Ed

We always enjoyed Pete's input in Sunday School class. He had such wisdom!
He and your Mom were such good examples of what a Christian should be.
