Charlotte Buckman Obituary
Charlotte "Shirley" Buckman, 89, formerly of Manchester, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014 in Zephyrhills, Fla.
Shirley was born March 1, 1924 in Mulberry, Ohio, the only daughter of John and Elsie Moore. Shirley was married to Robert Keith Buckman on June 1, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2000.
Survivors include her daughters, Vicky Spivey of Canton, Ohio and Linda (Tim) Vollstedt of Zephyrhills, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kiersten (Steve) Troutman, John (Taryn) Vollstedt, Keitha (Aaron) Brown and Colin (Anna) Wells; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lawrence Cooper. Shirley grew up in Mulberry, Ohio and graduated from Milford High School. After marrying Bob they moved to Akron and then to Manchester where they raised their family. They later made their home in Muscatine, Iowa and then moved to Jacksonville, Fla. where her beloved Bob passed away. In 2003, she moved to LeRoy, Ill. and most recently to Zephyrhills, Fla. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, and was thankful for the many friends with whom God blessed her life. Shirley was a committed Christian who always found joy in the Lord's work. She was a devoted worker in the church and an avid supporter of missions. She fought the good fight and has now finished the course.
Shirley's memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18th at the Manchester Christian Church, 930 Nimisila Rd., Akron, Ohio, with her son-in-law, Tim Vollstedt, officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. the same day. Burial will follow at Manchester Cemetery.

In attempting to find a phone number for Shirley, I instead found her obituary. My heart is very heavy right now to learn of the death of your mother and one of my best friends. She was an inspiration to my family and is largely responsible for the strong Christian children I have. She and Bob will forever live in my heart. God bless and "welcome home, Shirley".

Shirley Buckman was a inspiration to myself and many through her faithful Christian life. She endured so much over her lifetime and remained faithful and appreciative through it all. My deepest sympathies to Shirley's family. She will always be loved and deeply missed.
