Jean Swigart

Jean Swigart, 88, of Canal Fulton, died on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at The Laurels in Massillon.

Born in Canal Fulton, Jean was a life resident and graduated from Canal Fulton High School and worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. From 1957 until 1989, Jean owned and operated, with her husband Don, the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and financial secretary for several years. Jean was a Girl Scout leader and a Rotary Ann.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, Don, Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph D. and Ethel (Munro) Shook; brothers, Ralph, William and Robert Shook; and sister, Mabel Manley. She is survived by her children, Anita Swigart, Susan Swigart and Jason Swigart; grandchildren, Nathan (Stella) Winstel, Alison (Joseph) Finch, and Sam Winstel; great-grandchildren, Isla and Asher Finch; sisters, Dorothy and Ethel; and special friends, Mary Weisgarber and Skip Blowers.

Funeral service FRIDAY, 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 336 West Market St., Canal Fulton, with Pastor Walt Jordan officiating. Friends may call FRIDAY at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial at Canal Fulton Cemetery.
