Alfred E. "Al, Sonny" Kreitz

Alfred E. Kreitz, (Al, Sonny) 61, was born on Sept. 23, 1951 in Canton, Ohio to Raymond and Lorna Kreitz. He passed away on November 14, 2012.

Sonny grew up on Comet Lake in Green, Ohio, where he learned to appreciate and love the great outdoors. As a young man and into adulthood, he enjoyed yearly vacations to his family's cabin in Temagami, Ontario where he loved fishing and water skiing. Hunting in Boden, Ohio with his father-in- law and other hunting buddies were some of his favorite times, especially in 1975 when he got his ten point buck.

His mother took her children to Comet Road Church every Sunday, where Sonny professed his faith in the Lord at a young age and became a member of the church.

Sonny graduated with honors from Green High School in 1970, where he held the record for pole-vaulting for many years. He last worked at Maison Aine until his heart condition progressed to the point he was unable to work.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald E. Kreitz in 1990 and father, Raymond A. Kreitz in May 2012. He is survived by his mother, Lorna J. (Uplinger) Kreitz; son, Steven (Kelly) Kreitz; daughter, Mandy (Thomas) McKinnon; grandsons, Carter and Jefferson McKinnon; brother, William E. Kreitz; sister, Kathy Burns; nieces, Jennifer and Sarah; nephews, Cory and Curtis; great-nephew, Logan; former wife, Kimberly Hall Kreitz; former sister-in-law, Kay McKendrick Kreitz; and dear cousin, Virginia Bowman.

We know that Sonny appreciated his sister, Kathy's, help and care during the past few years.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 19 at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St., (Rt. 93 in Canal Fulton) where family and friends may call one hour before time of service.
