John Bittner Obituary
John C. Bittner "Jack", 82 of New Franklin, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014.
Born in Garrett, Pa. to the late Margaret Bittner he was an Akron area resident most of his life retiring from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. after 29 years of service. In addition to his mother, Jack was proudly raised by his grandfather. He enjoyed cars, going to swap meets and playing guitars especially loving the steel guitar. Jack was a Navy Veteran having served from 1950 to 1954.
Preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Patton) Bittner; survivors include his children, Teresa (the late Dave) Murphy, John (Jennifer) Bittner, Elaine (Randy) Weitzel, David (Lori) Bittner; grandchildren David, Alisha, Johnny, Andrew, Isaac, Rachel, Michael, Gretchen; great-grandchildren Alissa, Valerie, Trent and Ava.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place. Calling Hours will be held SUNDAY, September 14, 2014, 12pm (Noon) to 2pm, at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt. 93), Canal Fulton.

Dear Teresa, John, Elaine & David,
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! When we were all growing up, your mom & dad always impressed me how they loved each other and instilled discipline in the family ... John & especially I certainly needed it. I loved to hear your dad play the guitar. You've had many hardships. I didn't know about your mom. I pray they rest in peace, yet jump for joy in their eternal home. God bless all of you!
