Lawrence E. Blatt
TALLMADGE -- Lawrence E. Blatt, 90, passed away December 9, 2013.
Born in Proctor, West Virginia, Lawrence had lived in Tallmadge since 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from East Ohio Gas with 35 years of service. Lawrence was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church for 62 years, where he was an usher for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Daniel J. and William J. Blatt.
He is survived by his wife, Irene of 62 years; sons, Lawrence E. (Debra) Blatt of Hong Kong, Thomas E. Blatt, Michael J. (Janice) Blatt, Richard P. (Margie) Blatt, Kevin L. (Mary Ann) Blatt, and Steven M. (Kim) Blatt, all of Tallmadge; daughter-in-law, Tami Blatt; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Monica (Thomas) Boner, Dorothy, Edna; brothers, Raymond and Anthony Blatt, all of West Virginia.
Father of eight boys, Lawrence knew the importance of taking care of his family and passed that value onto his children. He enjoyed working in his backyard apple orchard where many people looked forward to his famous apple cider during the fall season.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave., Tallmadge, with Rev. Michael A. Matusz officiating. Please meet at the church. Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Victory Church.

Oh, Irene, I enjoyed those long visits when picking up apple cider on Saturdays. You and Lawrence offered a loving "get away" in that garage, time to visit and appreciate life. What a team you two made! Hugging you in spirit.

I can't put into words how sad I was to read about Lawrence. I was your neighbor for 24 years and we never shared a cross word. I have always missed talking with Lawrence out by the gardens. You were great friends and I'll always be thankful for your help getting me through Catechism. My thoughts and prayers are with you all always.
