Stephen D. Adam, 67, of Kent, Ohio, died Saturday, October 22, 2011 after an extended illness. He was born on July 7, 1944 in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late Stephen E. and June W. Adam. Stephen worked for The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and retired in 2001.
He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying golf and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joanne (nee Reich) and his daughters, Julie Ann Wightman (Scott) of Akron and Josette Simpson (Deron) of Mogadore. He took great joy in his beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Brooke, and Carly Wightman, and Joseph, Cory, and Matthew Simpson. He is also survived by sisters, Kristine Vannan (Rick) of Clinton, Kathleen Galloway of Crossville, Tenn., and Karen Mosyjowski (Steve) of Barberton, and many nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 313 North DePeyster Street, Kent, Ohio 44240, with a luncheon to follow at the church. The family will receive friends and family prior to the Mass at the church at 10 a.m. If you desire, donations may be made to Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Fairlawn, Ohio 44333.
