I am an entrepreneur and read everything I could get my hands on about Mr. McClendon. I admired him from afar. His drive, optimism and passion for his businesses inspired me. I live in Southeast Missouri, but it was my goal to one day meet this man, I have been praying for your family. When there are no answers we turn to God! The great faith exemplified by your family will get all of you through this period of uncertainty. I hope to visit OKC and see the print he left on the community he loved.

We moved to OKC in 2005 knowing absolutely no one. We came to Nichols Hills with our 2 yr old son, my wife 8 months pregnant and a bit stressed. The first person in our neighborhood to introduce themselves was Aubrey. I was putting new plates on my car in our driveway. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted someone on a bicycle with a baseball hat, shorts and white T-shirt. He pedaled into my driveway and said hey. I asked how I could help him (thinking he was selling something). He said no, I'm Aubrey, your neighbor. We lived there three years and he was such a great guy, a great neighbor and you quickly learned how much he loved his city and state. When he found out we had sold the company I came to run, he called and asked if I would meet him. He said he didn't want us to leave OKC and he wanted to figure out a way to keep us there. I'll never forget his kindness, his genuine care of others and his pride and love of his family. I'm so very sorry and sad to hear of his passing. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Katie, his children and extended family and to all of Oklahoma for the loss of a husband, father and friend.

Katie...don't know if you remember me but I was married to Ed Nolan for 13 years. We were at your wedding to Aubrey. I have always remembered how Aubrey looked at you through that wedding weekend....it was evident on his face every time...he adored and loved you completely. I am so sad to hear from Ed about Aubrey's death, sweet lady. Know that both of you touched many lives. I will be thinking of you often over the next few months. Karen

The Aubrey McClendon I met was fun, gracious and generous man. His contribution to individuals and our state, legendary. When I told everyone I knew I was going to the Super Bowl in Dallas, people laughed for a year. Mr. McClendon allowed that to happen a seat on the bus to the HUGE best tailgate party at Cowboy Stadium! It was hospitality to anyone and everyone with the right color wristband or not. Like a little kid he was so excited to share Chesapeake's CNG Motor Coach with everyone...relaxing in a lawn chair after giving many a tour himself. At the Senior PGA Championship years before another sponsor ran out of food...Chesapeake was so gracious and helped us volunteers accommodate another sponsors guests. No questions asked, just do the right thing. I will never forget his generosity to me and so many others.

Oklahoma truly lost a great man that would give his shirt off his back to help you in need. I would run into him every once in awhile and that reminds me of a classic story. A year or so ago I had stopped in arcadia at pops to get a burger and drink and as I walking in I noticed Mr Mcclendon with a reflective shirt on working outside. I called him by name, which he was quick to correct me and said aubrey. I said what are doing out here, you have people to do that for you and aubrey said keeping busy. I will always remember those worlds because I know his schedule was overflowing and he had time to do that. I and all of oklahoma will miss you because there is a void that cannot be filled with you gone and will never be filled. It was a pleasure knowing you I will never forget you a long as I live.

At my orientation, when I was hired on at Chesapeake in 2006, we got to ask Aubrey a question when he came in at the end of the day. I asked how he came up with the name Chesapeake. He said he wanted an all-American sounding name and was inspired by Chesapeake Bay which was just down the road from Duke University. He also said that he and Tom Ward were not sure the company would succeed so they didn't want to put their names on it! Enjoyed seeing Aubrey and his Dad on campus. As a GIS Analyst, I made a few maps for him (he loved maps) during my time there. Goodbye Aubrey and may the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ comfort and bless your family during this time.

I met Aubrey in 2006. I spoke to him plus emails and once his Father. He did well for two families and I always appreciated that. He and his Father spoke of the Lord in a way I knew and know both were/are men of Faith. He was aggressive, but kind and full of life. Boy Scouts visiting his land can tell you of his greeting at the log fort area. Many people have their "I remember...". All of mine of Aubrey are good. I pray for the family and be thankful for the legacy. Jim
