Basile was a good friend and college roommate back in the early 1970s. We were 18 or 19. Rolling Stones and Ziggy Stardust days. I talked him into coming out to San Francisco in 1977 or so, maybe it was '78, where he briefly played bass in The Blast with old OKC buddy and future Mutant (of Fun Terminal fame) member Paul Fleming. This is way before The Fortune Tellers. I remember at least one crazed rockin' show at Mabuhay Gardens on Broadway in SF ... A lifetime ago. So, another part of our youth disappears, except in our hearts, minds and imagination, where we'll always remember that amazing artist -- he was a wonderful painter -- rock 'n' roll maniac and electronic composer from Athens, Greece. I'm sure he's cranking out some great, distorted, passionate R&B on a beat up Telecaster somewhere between heaven and hell. As it should be ... I'll always remember that dandified young wild man, a cool Oklahoma City Oscar Wilde with a Keith Richards' vibe, strumming a Gibson Hummingbird and channeling Lightnin'Hopkins or singing "Satisfaction" with a heavy Greek accent! Goodbye Basile -- goodbye "Bill." Farewell old friend. You always were forever young.

I met Basile when we were 18 year olds at OCU in a constant search for the rock'n'roll holy grail. He played in one of my bands in San Francisco a few years later. I will hold those times as a joyful memory forever. My heart goes out to Basile's family and friends.

Basile had such talent and energy! I too spent many weekends and New Years listening and dancing to the Fortune Tellers. I have very fond memories of hanging out with Basil and friends back in the 80's. What a crazy time! He will never be forgotten! My prayers and thoughts go out to his family.

I was a latecomer fan of the Fortunetellers, sorry I won't be able to hear them once again as before.
