I never knew him as Clay, he was always Uncle Jiggs. He was the finest example of a loving son, brother, husband and father and was the best kind of friend to all who knew him. I've never seen a man as close to his mother and sister as he was, they were like 3 peas in a pod.
He had a zest for life like no other person I've ever known. His was a life well lived.
A visit to their home was always a wonderful warm experience, the were the best kind of hosts. . I never visited Uncle and Auntie that they didn't both walk me out to my car, hug me and stand there waving goodbye till my car was out of sight. When he hugged you, you knew without a question this was someone who genuinely cared for you!
As a young child my own father wasn't near the man uncle was. uncle always encouraged me and urged me to go farther in life and to reach higher, I will always be grateful for that. I know he has gone on to be with Steve, Gary, my mom and my grandmother and that someday I too will "See them on the other side"! He was the best man in my life!
My quest now is make sure that Auntie is as well cared for as she did for Uncle Jiggs. There has never been a love greater than the love they gave to each other.
