I was saddened to hear that Coach Myers had passed this past Wednesday. He was my teacher my sophomore year in high school at Moore High. I remember how encouraging he was in the classroom and outside the classroom. I was involved in Cross Country and Track at Moore High, and there was one time as the football players were coming out to the field to practice, I was running on the track at the same time. As I passed by, doing whatever workout our team was doing that day, Coach Myers had the football players stop and he pointed to me passing by and said, "Boys, there's a super star right there" Though I didn't know Coach Myers on a personal level, as one of his students he seemed to see the best in others. I'll always be grateful having known Coach Myers.

I have wonderful memories of Scott, his brother Doug, his mother Sandra, and his dad Joe on Mimosa Street in Norman,Ok in the early 1970's. Such fond memories of Scott, Ted and Todd Yates, Chris Varva playing football with their little brothers( Doug & Joe)and my son Al Garnand. I remember Scott loved John Denver and Willie Nelson. I send love and support to his mom and dad--such a blessing to have such a wonderful son. I called my ex--Lynn to make sure this was "our" Scott and he sends his love to each of you too!! He had followed Scott's coaching career from Woodward to Moore. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your neighbor on Mimosa--Jo Garnand

My heart is broken with the passing of Scotty. I was one of his teachers when he was in third grade. He was so adorable and so smart. He dressed up as "the Fonz" for Halloween. His mom was very active with Wilson Elementary PTA and was a great parent to both of her boys. I lost track of him after the third grade until I ran into him at an OU football game when he was still in college. Then later we started communicating via email. I saw him on tv when he was coaching at Moore and was so very proud of the way he conducted himself as a coach and man. I feel blessed in knowing and loving him and his family. I write this with deep sympathy and love to his family and all who loved him.

These testimonies are radiating examples of Scott's character that he demonstrated his whole life. Scott was a champion, on and off the field. He was a great leader and classmate. The Good Lord has taken his pain away and now we pray dearly for strength for the family.
