As Chair of the Nat'l. REAL Daughters Committee, DUVCW, I must say we will miss her. It was a pleasure to know Ms. Emily. Her wonderful stories she shared will forever keep the 'camp fires' burning.

My deepest best wishes & sympathy to the all the family & close friends of Emily-it was my great privledge to know & appreciate her as both a former teacher & good friend and be there when she agreed to a rare interview with friend Mike Hooper who worked for the Topeka-Times near or on her 80th Birthday in 2004-gone now but never forgotten-more than history-her Father's legacy as artist, populist teacher & Union veteran also live on not just in the Garden of Eden he created but in all our hearts always!
Sincerely,
Joe C. Mettenbrink

Emily Jane was very helpful to the Garden of Eden, Incorporated, and our efforts to faithfully preserve her family's home and her father's art in Lucas, KS. We enjoyed meeting her, and appreciated her perspective on her parents' lives.

We will all miss you mom. Your wit and humor was never lost, even in these later years. Watch for the guy with the "Steve loves Janie" sign. He's been waiting for you. I will love you always, your son, Kirk.

As a member of DUV, she was an inspiration to all our members.
