My condolences to the Ross family and community of New York Mills. Coach Ross influenced the life and values of all he came in contact with. I remember riding my bike to watch the team's summer 2 a day practices in the 60's. I also remember when coach ate at my parent's restaurant on Burrstone Road and my father gave the coach the green light to discipline me, like he needed one. Being a retired Navy Veteran I feel Coach's passing on Veteran's day for a WWII Marine is of great significance. Rest in peace Coach Ben Ross.

Ben served in the Marines, honorably, as part of A Company, 5th Engineer Bn. 5th Marine Division on Iwo Jima. We were in the same unit. AS you rejoin our comrades, who have gone before us, I, too, will not be far behind. Semper Fidelis! Dear Comrade.

So sorry for your loss Mike and family

I was fortunate to meet Mr. Ross many years ago. My dad, Stan Wilski (Wilczynski) coached football at NY Mills with Ben, and even though I was very young at the time, I have many memories of what a terrific man he was. My dad passed away in 1961 and I will never forget that on the first Christmas after his passing, Mr. Ross and some of the teachers from the high school brought over gifts for me and my sisters. It was an honor to meet Ben and I'm grateful for the kindness and compassion that he showed me and my family during a tough time, and for the friendship he shared with my father. My condolences to his family - he was a great man.

Sorry for your loss. Mr. Ross was a great guy. He helped me out once when I was in High School. I never forgot it. RIP Ben.
