CANASTOTA >> Shirley A. Post, 91, of 3028 Seneca Turnpike, Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Oneida Healthcare Center Extended Care Facility.
She was born on March 2, 1923, in Canastota, a daughter of Fred, Sr. and Clarena Munderback Gustin.
Shirley lived in the Canastota area most of her life, attending the Canastota schools.
She was a devoted, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Shirley enjoyed crocheting, baking, painting, camping, and spending time with her family.
She married the love of her life, Baker J. Post, on Dec. 21, 1941, in Canastota. They celebrated 71 years of marriage, before Baker passed away on July 4, 2012.
Surviving are: a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Lori Post of Canastota; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dawn Post, and Sharon and Thomas Skinner, all of Canastota; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rolland and Donna Gustin of Canastota, and Allen and Frances Gustin of Baldwinsville; one sister, Beverly Dupre of Canastota; one sister-in-law, Joyce Gustin of Canastota; five grandchildren, Michele and Richard Browell, Michael and Amanda Funari, Toby Klish and Jessica Meyers, Kyle Post, and Beth and Greg Painter; ten great-grandchildren, Jessica Hofmeister, Lucretia Funari, Mackenzie Funari, Mickelle Funari, Zachary Funari, Nevaeh Whipple, Lavella Whipple, Cara Klish, Tyler Twiss, and Austin Klish; two great great-granddaughters, Kenzlie and Lillian; as well as several nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by a grandson, John T. Post; and three brothers, Richard Gustin, Lee Gustin, and Fred Gustin, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. The Rev. Mick Keville, pastor of Crossroads Community Church, North Chittenango, will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 201 James St., Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to Greater Lenox Ambulance Service, Inc., P.O. Box 382, Canastota, N.Y. 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
