Just saw this that Mrs. Bretscher passed away. She was my geometry teacher in 10th grade and homeroom my senior year (first year Cedar Shoals was open). She was by far my favorite teacher and I've always remembered her fondly. May her memory be eternal!

Mrs. Bretscher was more than just my favorite high school teacher at Cedar Shoals High School. She was my friend. I babysat for Susan, Christine and Prentiss often and felt a part of their family. Her smile was so contagious. She would tell me not to leave school early every day because i could. Instead, she told me to take typing, sewing, and anything that i could use in life. She was right! I was blessed to be her student and her friend. I loved her very much. God bless you Mr. Bretscher and girls as you miss her and do life with the void of her smile. My mom passed away a month ago. Perhaps they are sharing stories in heaven about how she had to call my mom when i was a senior because i talked to much in class! I love you all, Marilou Halastra Braswell

My deepest sympathy to you and your family, at this time of sorrow. Please find peace in God's word at Matthew 5:4,
for your loss.

I did not know Mrs. Bretscher, but had the opportunity to visit her amazing garden more than once. What a gift it was to see her passion!

Dear Bob and family, I was sorry to see of Ann's passing. I know that she had been in declining health for some time. The times I met her were so delightful. I know how special she was to you. Bob, you and Ann mde such a great couple. You were a perfect match. May God bless you with fond memories of her.

Ann Bretscher was a classy lady! If I show up at someone's home with a gift it's because Mrs. Bretscher said to never show up empty-handed, even if you simply take a grapefruit! She was beautiful and elegant. I have many fond memories of her and her beautiful family. My sincerest condolences to all of you. Love, Jeanine Dwinell Henry

What a beautiful lady! And "indulgent" is the right word. I think she indulged all of us. She was not afraid of being fully there with everyone she met. I remember thinking "How did Athens luck into THIS couple?" I know Ann has been gone from the scene, for most of us, for a long time. But my wife and I will never forget Ann's kindnesses and humor and loveliness and bright spirit. She radiated.
