I'm sad to find out that Mr. Giles (we always addressed our supervisors that way) had passed away over five years ago. I have to say how much I appreciated his kind manner while working with him. I spent three years at Beasley & Rice, 1983-1986. You were a special man.

I worked with Mr. Giles at Beasley & Rice, CPA's in 1979 and '80 and he was one of the most pleasant and friendly individuals I have ever met. I was 20 years old, a newlywed and very new to the area. He was extremely professonal and easy to be a friend to. Regina H. Lipsey, Orlando, FL

My first job after graduating from college was at Rice and Giles. I was assigned to Mr. Giles and used to travel with him on audit assignments. I will never forget great times I had as this man taught me about being a good person and doing a job right. I will never forget eating barbecue in Commerce... and counting the cotton bales... and him telling me about his old cars... and him showing me how to run your a/c while on defrost to keep your windows unfogged...and him telling me about the old days with long sleeve shirts and no air conditioning...and him not wanting to eat onions for lunch because it would make him have a sleepy spell in the afternoon.... wow... the memories are great. Mr. Giles will surely be missed . But his influence continues....

Kammy and I have just learned of Mr. Giles's death. I am so glad I got to visit him recently. He seemed remarkably happy with his cat and his lovely view of the pond. He deflected too many questions from me about himself, directing the conversation, rather, to how my family and I were getting along, asking about my wife and children -- by name. Vintage Harold Giles! I was able to thank him (again) for all the times he helped us over the years, and when a staff person came in, I was able to brag on him in front of that lady. He barely took notice of the compliments. Mr. Giles was such a self-contained individual -- independent-minded, non-complaining, non-judgmental, completely competent in his profession, ever eager to be of assistance -- and always, always so very pleasant to deal with. My mother and father admired the man, too, Mother at one time remarking, "When you are talking with Harold, you'd think you were his only client!" That's so true. Mr. Giles was such an attentive listener, always so patient; then he went about solving your problem (which, he might mention, did not really seem like much of a problem to him). We will miss him so much and will be at his service Saturday. The phrase "They don't make them like that anymore" was never more appropriate than when applied to this wonderful man.

Carol,
You truly were Harold's angel on earth. I'm proud I got a chance to know him for so many years, and I'm so glad you watched over him during these last years he had left. You were such a big part of each others lives, and I'm sure there is a huge void now. I know God and Harold will get you through this.

I love you! You were always there. You never missed a thing. You were always there when I needed you. All my love.

To the family of Harold:

I have been associated with Harold for many years. He was always kind and gentle with a desire to serve his clients faithfully. I will miss him.
