Harris was a wonderful role model for me during my young activist days in Savannah. We worked on projects together, such as honoring the first women voters of Chatham County. I was thrilled when she was elected the first female "alderman" in the city. Many of us worked to have the Equal Rights Amendment passed in Georgia. When a caravan of women was leaving one year for the Savannah/Chatham Day in Atlanta to meet with legislators,I recall Harris telling me to say anything I wanted to say while there. She said this because another woman had told me to be cautious about what I said while speaking to our elected officials. What a strong, caring, courageous woman Harris was. Godspeed, Dear One.

Lentini & Kandel Families,

To be sure, we - Lillian & Tom Robinson - were shocked to learn of Harris' passing, last week. Mother has continued to tell me how good Harris looked when she last saw her in January. I've read and re-read Harris' obituary - and legacy, and it is certainly one of serving and giving to others; it's rich, and so-encouraging to soak-up.

May God bless her memory with His comfort, peace and compassion, and may all of our lives shine a little brighter and stronger for the influence Harris breathed into them.

Much Love,

Harris was a very inspiring and creative person. She was one of the many reasons I started to quilt. She was also a amazing artist. She will always be forever missed. The fiber guild will never be the same without her.

To Phillipa and Joanne, and to all in the Kandel and Lentini families, my deepest condolences. Please know that I am thinking of you and of Harris, an incredibly accomplished woman whose contributions to Savannah in the fields of both educations and government service will not be forgotten. Truly a full and well-lived life.

My condolences to Harris' family. I appreciated the support she offered to me during my tenure as a principal in Savannah. May you be granted strength and peace at this time.
