John had a special love of life and joyful enthusiasm that was contagious. He was a particular friend of the Orange Twin Conservation Community, helping us so much in maintaining the health of the forest and for special performances.. He is and will be missed. Heartfelt condolences to his children, who he loved so much and was so proud of.

We are so sad to hear of the tragic loss of Curtis. Haven't seen him in years but remember some fun times with him and Christy. We pray our Heavenly Father will comfort each of you and give you strength to get through the times ahead. As you know we lost Bruce four years ago so if you ever need to talk please call me. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

John was a one of a kind guy! He was a good friend to all who knew him. I know that my son Luke thought the world of him and we were so pleased with his fine tree cutting....a true professional. We mourn his loss and send our deepest sympathy
to his family.....Joe and Carol Pontzer

Sending what I wrote to Curtis the night I heard about the tragedy~I can't stop crying...Curtis I am so sorry for being such a mechanical idiot I never figured out the link you sent of your music...You were such an amazing friend to so many of us...Just told my daughter how you were one of my first true Lubbock guy friends to make me belly laugh & forget about L.A. ...I have hours of footage of you and your wonderful kids talking about ReaL LiFe because you were always authentic...& watching you be real with your kids helped me be real with mine...Thank You Curtis & forgive me for the times I dropped the ball...

It's utterly sad to think of never being able to see or speak to Mr. John Conaway again, whom I met and developed a sense of friendship with at the YWCO and Earth Fare many years back. He will always be remembered by the ones he loved and left behind. May his soul rest in peace.
