As a student of Ruth's husband, Ray Carpenter in the early 1970s - I have very fond memories of Ruth hosting students at their home and providing words of encouragement and support for us graduate students at the time

A fine kind lady - condolences to the family

My freind and Mother in Law, Ill miss you

Dear Rich - Your Mother was my favorite aunt from the time she and Di and Coo (and you) spent summer weeks at Little Neck until her later life when she became the much-loved and much-admired role model of more recent years. Her zest for life was the quality my Dad most encouraged me to emulate. While I recognize Aunt Ruth enjoyed a full and productive life, it saddens me to know she remains only in my heart. Please accept my profound condolences Bev (Jones) Federau

Ruth was a spectacular person. I enjoyed spending time with her in the country. I especially enjoyed driving her the "back" way in her car at 30 miles per hour in the snow at Christmas. She was a bright light on Earth and will now shine brightly in the Universe. Lane and I are so happy to have known her!
