Shocked to hear of Larry's passing and saddened even more. I remember Larry came out to a barbecue for the Valdosta Wildcats football team when I played there around 1973 or 1974 - and I didn't know him from Adam, but I remembered his face and his enthusiasm for football and life in general. Many years later, when I met Larry after accepting a job at Athens Regional Medical Center, I recognized him from my high school days and we were friends immediately. Larry was the glue that held a lot of moving parts in place at the hospital in Athens where I served under him for five years. His accomplishments were many and his expectations of others high. But he was wiser than most and I respected him immensely. Rest in peace Larry, and prayers for the family.

Larry was the man...a great leader, financial manager, mentor, friend and devoted family man. I stand in a long line of people he helped at important times. He will never be forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear about this great loss to his family and our community. I worked with Larry at South Georgia Medical Center for many years and also at ARMC after I moved to the Athens area. Although I have not seen him in years, I think of him often as the kind, funny and one of the smartest men I've had the privilege to know. I will be praying for Joanne, his children and grandchildren and this journey they will be on.
