Dr Farnum always attended "Founder's Day" at his alma mater in Kirksville, Missouri. He remained the "Hit" of the day with all the faculty, staff, and most especially the students when bounded down (until his final years) with his broad smile and engaging eyes. We, his brother and sister alumni, honor him for all the good he did and joy he brought. Rest well, now, my friend.

The American Academy of Osteopathy is proud to count Doran A. Farnum, DO, FAAO, as one of its first fellows and one of the first Pioneers in Osteopathy inducted by the AAO, The Osteopathic Cranial Academy and the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation. The AAO was privileged to have Dr. Farnum as a member since 1949, and it was honored that one of our members was the world's oldest osteopathic physician.
Upon learning the news of Dr. Farnum's death, the AAO's 2015-16 president, Doris B. Newman, DO, FAAO, responded, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr Farnum's family and friends. We were privileged to have such a wonderful colleague for so long."
Former AAO president John C. Glover, DO, FAAO, observed "He was a wonderful man--an excellent osteopathic physician--and he will be missed."
"It was a privilege to know him," added Dennis J. Dowling, DO, FAAO, who also served the AAO as president. "His career was remarkable."
A year before his death, "The DO" magazine honored Dr. Farnum and his contributions to osteopathic medicine with a profile article, which can be accessed at http://thedo.osteopathic.org/2014/04/hero-next-door-california-do-calls-it-a-career-at-age-101/,

Dr. Farnum treated me in Sheboygan from age 3 to adulthood. He began a video of me walking as a baby, and finished it of me walking down the aisle as a bride. He then treated my new husband and later my baby. He was a wonderful and dedicated man who helped so many. He will always be fondly remembered! I'm sure he is now enjoying the rewards he so richly deserves.
