I was raised in Taft and graduated from Taft College in 1971.

Dr. Tufft had a major impact on my life. He persuaded me to look at attending Northern Arizona Univ. in Flagstaff. I remember that he had a close friend that taught there and felt that this would be an excellent teaching university for me, despite the fact that I had already been accepted at Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) and UC Davis.

This was the turning point of my life. I have both a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Northern Ariz. Univ. In addition, I taught elementary school for 28 years, and am currently an academic advisor at Glendale Comnunity College in Glendale, Az. Luckily, I met my wife, who I have been married to for 35 years, also a teacher. We have been blessed with three kids and two grandchildren. This would not have been possible if it had not been for a 30 minute converstaion with Dr. Tufft.

Dr. Tufft's love of history and government enabled me to share his wisdom and knowledge with my students.
Also, I had the pleasure of knowing his daughter, Anne, who also attended Taft College. There is no doubt that she and her sister, Beth, have become very successful due to their father's love and faith.

Thank you my friend for your wisdom and knowledge. Your will truly be missed by the hundreds of students that you inspired.

May you rest in peace.

Mr. Tufft was such a wonderful, warm-hearted gentleman. I feel honored to have known him even for a short time. I feel bad that I missed his memorial service.
