To the family of Jon Coutchie,
I was working with Jon during 9/11 and on that day he promised to enlist. A year later he was training to become an army ranger. After he got out of the army he told me that he had become a police officer and how much he loved his job.
Jon was and will always be an important person in my life. I was so sorry to hear about his passing, I had hoped that we would meet again someday.
Perhaps we still will.

It has been a long time since we made each other laugh through our days with Whole Foods...although it had been a while since we had talked, I'm deeply saddened to hear this news... but am honored to have known you... RIP, you are missed. My condolences to all of Jon's family and friends.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Jon Steven Coutchie our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jon. And to Jon it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during Operations Irai and Enduring Freedoms while serving in the U.S. Army. Jon, we honor the supreme sacrifice you made while serving as a Laugna Beach Police Officer. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, Generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jon's family and loved ones.
